 South Dakota Mines took home first place and four out of five top spots in the student division at 2023 South Dakota Governor’s Giant Vision Business Competition held this week in Sioux Falls. The competition is highly competitive and is the biggest of its type in the state. Mines students or alumni have received top honors at the competition for ten years in a row.

South Dakota Mines CAMP, a student-centered, hands-on engineering program, is adding three new teams: the Moonrockers, the Mines Association of Rocketeers (MARS) and the Unmanned Aerial Systems Team (UAS).

South Dakota Mines will host a ribbon cutting for the new Glassblowing Lab inside the university foundry at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. The lab is an addition to the National Science Foundation funded Art and Engineering (A+E) program hosted inside the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering at Mines.

 South Dakota Mines will host high school students on April 20 who will take part in the annual international IceCube Masterclass. During the workshop, the students will get a chance to work with the actual dataset measured by the international IceCube Neutrino Observatory, located at the geographic South Pole.
